Venezuela and Iran – human rights defenders versus autocracies
On 19 October 2026, the European Lawyers Foundation and the Robert and Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center (KHRC) organised a webinar on ‘Venezuela and Iran – human rights defenders versus autocracies’.
First, there were presentations by a member of each of the UN Independent Fact-Finding Missions on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and of the Islamic Republic of Iran, speaking about the human rights situations in Venezuela and Iran. This was followed by a session on the work of human rights defenders in Venezuela and Iran by experts from each of the countries.
