Making criminal legal aid work better in practice
On 26 October 2026, the European Lawyers Foundation and the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) organised a webinar on ‘Making criminal legal aid work better in practice’.
First, there was a context-setting session on why effective criminal legal aid matters. This was followed by a speaker from the European Commission, who presented the achievements and challenges of the Legal Aid Directive. And finally, there were two presentations from the defence perspective, on what works and doesn’t work regarding national best practices.
