Exploring the role of lawyers in relation to whistleblowing in the European Union
This webinar, organised by the European Lawyers Foundation (ELF) and the European Center for Whistleblower Rights, was held on 29 November 2022. It attracted just over 300 participants from several Member States, and even beyond the EU.
After a welcome from the Chair of ELF’s Board of Directors (Dominique Attias), Dr Lauren Kierans BL, a lecturer in law at Maynooth University, Ireland, spoke about the key legal provisions, principles and concepts of the 2019 EU Whistleblowing Directive.
Once she was finished her presentation, Jonathan Goldsmith from ELF conducted a question and answer session with her about the impact of the directive on lawyers and law firms.
This was followed by Mary Inman, Partner, Constantine Cannon LLP, who spoke about successful strategies in whistleblower casework.
Finally, Mark Worth, Executive Director, European Center for Whistleblower Rights, spoke about limiting risks to whistleblowers and maximising the positive impact of cases. There followed a short question-and-answer session.
