On 7 November 2024, the European Lawyers Foundation, in cooperation with the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), organised a webinar on ‘Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive and ESG – what European lawyers need to know.’
Among the issues addressed during the webinar, there was first a general presentation from the European Commission about the new Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), plus further presentations about: lessons from CSDDD developments for practice and related ESG client advice; the evolving social responsibility of lawyers/law firms in the light of ESG developments; and the ethical implications of ESG obligations for lawyers and clients.
