Using the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights – what lawyers need to know
On 23 June 2025, the European Lawyers Foundation and the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) organised a webinar on ‘Using the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights – what lawyers need to know’, in the framework of the EU-funded TRAVAR project.
Among the issues addressed during the webinar, there was first a presentation on the history, content and scope of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, followed by a presentation by a representative from the Fundamental Rights Agency on the application of the Charter at national level, including FRA research and tools. These were followed by further presentations about: the European Commission’s Strategy to strengthen the application of the Charter; the interplay between the EU Charter and the European Convention on Human Rights; and case studies on the application of the Charter.
