In 2017, the European Lawyers Foundation and a group of Bars launched a pioneering EU-funded project which established lawyer exchanges between various Member States. This first initiative continued via the #LAWYEREX project, which increased the number of lawyers and Bars participating in the exchanges. LAWYEREX will end on 31 January 2022, but ELF has been awarded further EU funds to continue with lawyer exchanges through the LAWYEREX 2 project, which includes more Bars and will exchange more lawyers than ever.

As a farewell to the LAWYEREX project and to welcome LAWYEREX 2, we have prepared an appreciation in the form of a video. It is intended for those lawyers who have participated in the project’s activities to date (the physical exchanges and also the online activities which we organised as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic), and for those who will participate in the future. We would also like to thank those Bars which have supported ELF in these successful initiatives.

The second round of exchanges (March – June 2020) was postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Europe.

Partners decided to endeavour to resume the exchanges from October 2020 onwards, provided that there are no important restrictions in place in the countries participating in the project.

If the second round eventually takes place from October to December 2020, then the third and fourth rounds will be merged into one final round, which will run from January until June 2021.
